Taller de dos sessions dirigit per Fergus Muirhead que introdueix en el món de la música de la gaita escocesa o Great Highland Pipes. Es començarà amb un nivell bàsic amb un grall d’assaig que imita a l’instrument i facilita l`aprenentage.  Si no teniu grall d’assaig, podem proporcionar-vos un per la durada del taller. No es necessari tenir coneixements previs de música.  Seguirem una versió del programa del National Piping Centre de Glasgow, Escòcia.
Two-session workshop conducted by Fergus Muirhead which introduces to the world of the music of the Scottish Great Highland
Pipes.  Beginning from an elementary level with a “practice chanter”, which replicates the pipes while allowing for an easier learning process.  If you don’t have a “practice chanter”, we can provide them for the duration of the workshop. Previous knowledge of music not required.  We will follow a modified version of Glasgow’s  National Piping Centre.

Very soon, a new Scottish concert in Osona. : John McKissok and his friends will be playing for us on next 1st Ocotber at La torre del Vilar. Saturday, 1st Ocotber at 6 pm.

Els jardins d’una casa rural es converteixen novament en l’escenari idíl·lic per gaudir de la musica celta en una tarda de tardor encara immersa en la calor agradable de  transició cap al fred de l’hivern.

En John amb la seva mandolina i guitarra, en Conrad amb el seu bodhran i gaita i en Fergus amb la seva gaita ens embolcallaran amb els sons de la fantàstica música celta escocesa – Serà un concert fantàstic!

Catalan party at Dingwall library

On Saturday 10^th September , from 3 pm to 5.30pm, Dingwall Library is welcoming a party of around 25 people from Catalonia.

Osona Highlands

Library staff in Taradell, Catalonia got in touch at the start of the year and since then we have exchanged information leaflets, books, music and kept  a joint blog on a  website. The afternoon will be our opportunity to finally meet Taradell Library staff, representatives from the Area Tourist Office, Catalan book groups members and hill walkers who are visiting the area for 4 days.

Our informal afternoon will have some Scottish music, Scottish and Catalan food, from the region of OSONA and will give everyone a chance to chat ( we do have some staff and friends who will help with translation ! ).

Staff at Dingwall Library  would be pleased if you were able to come along and join us.

Concert de música celta a càrrec del grup “Slàinte”

El divendres 22 de juliol  es va poder gaudir d’un concert de música celta als jardins de del Centre Cultural Costa i Font.   L’activitat formava part del projecte “De Biblioteca a biblioteca de país a país: Osona-Highlands 2011″, promogut des de la Biblioteca Antoni Pladevall i Font de Taradell i l’Associació d’Agroturisme d’Osona. L’acte va tenir molt bona acollida, amb molta assistència de públic que va poder gaudir del repertori de música tradicional  del grup ”Slainte”, format per Pello Garcia (flautes i gaites), Flavie Louesdon (acordió diatònic i violí) i Jordi de Diego (guitarra acústica). Celtic music in Taradell

Slainte neix el 1993, i des de llavors ha rodat per nombrosos escenaris tant catalans com d’arreu. És, sense cap mena de dubte, el grup més veterà dins l’anomenada música celta a Catalunya.

La música celta, ben arrelada a Escòcia, serà novament present a Catalunya fruit de l’intercanvi Osona-Highlands.

Catalan story time at Dingwall library

Dingwall  library held a Spanish-Catalan story time on Thursday, 7th July as part of the Library Friendship Project. A great time was had by all and staff say: “all children are now totally fluent in three languages”

VIC

Halfway between the sea and the Pyrenees and only seventy kilometers from Barcelona, this small town is considered as the population, administrative and service center of a geographical area that extends beyond the boundaries of region of Osona.

Come & play golf

El golf és l’esport escocès per excel·lència, però quants de nosaltres ha jugat mai al golf? Qui no s’ha quedat mai envedelit davant d’una immens terreny verd preguntant-se quina és la gràcia del golf?

A Catalunya cada vegada hi ha més camps de golf i cada vegada hi ha més aficionats, i és que cada vegada el golf és un esport més popular i assequible per a tothom.

En aquest intercanvi no hi podia faltar el golf!.
El proper dijous 21 de juliol acosta’t al club de golf el Montanyà i podràs conèixer de prop el gols, entendRe’l i sobretot estrenar-te!

Fergus Muirhead & his bagpipe in Vic

Over 200 hundred people attended Fergus’ concert at the gardens of the holiday cottage la Riera, next to Vic. Its gardens were the idilic escenario for this concert under the shade of a sunny Sunday afternoon, green around and flowers  dispersed.

Adults listenned to Fergus with attention and interest and children did it too first but finished playing around somewhere else in the garden. Fergus did not only play his two bagpipes but also read us some of Burns’ poetry. It was a very interesting event indeed.

We organized a samll bar full os scottish beer that people enjoyed a lot and at the same time they tried them for the first time.

All together was a great succes and people are waiting now for the next event which will be on 21st July at Club de Golf el Montanyà and 22nd July, with another concert with the musical group Slainte.
